Information and Documentation Center

The Information and Documentation Services serve as a crucial bridge connecting AYJNISHD(D) with both its direct and indirect beneficiaries. These services are driven by the core objectives of acquiring, assimilating, and disseminating of information to individuals and organizations dedicated to addressing the challenges of speech and hearing impairment. The Information and Documentation Centre undertakes a range of activities that play a pivotal role in achieving these objectives.

The centre provides Documentation, IT and Library services. The documentation service include compilation of Annual Report, Monthly Report, MIS Reports and specific reports based on query from Ministry/Parliament.

Computer Centre (IT Services)

Computer Section facilitates computerization process  by development of software needed for activities of the Institute,  identifying and recommending suitable ready-made software  packages,  recommending suitable hardware, coordinating internet services and  hardware maintenance services, providing  training to staff as and when needed and  providing help  and support in data processing work.  Internet service is made available in the library, hostel and in all the departments. Security software is in place.

This section plays a vital role in maintaining and curating the Institute’s official website, https://ayjnishd.nic.in. The website serves as a comprehensive repository of information, offering extensive insights into the Institute’s services and activities. Furthermore, it serves as an invaluable resource for information on speech and hearing impairments, along with rehabilitation measures. The website is a treasure trove of knowledge, covering a wide array of topics, including early identification, prevention, diagnosis, intervention, and assistance for individuals with speech and hearing disabilities, as well as their families. Keeping our stakeholders well-informed, we regularly update the website with the latest news and event details from the Institute, ensuring that visitors have access to the most current information.

Computer Section coordinates Biometric Attendance System (BAS), e-office, support e-procurement process and GEM support.  To provide support to Cochlear Implant Services, a website – www.adipcochlearimplant.in is maintained by the Institute.

Library

The Institute Library is among the finest specialized libraries in the country in the field of speech and hearing disabilities. It houses an extensive and valuable collection of books, reference materials, and specialized publications, along with access to multiple online journals, databases, and e-resources covering disability studies, rehabilitation, education, audiology, and speech-language pathology.

To facilitate seamless access to information, the Library is equipped with high-speed internet and Wi-Fi facilities, enabling staff, students, and research scholars of AYJNISHD(D) to connect to the Digital Library and explore global e-resources. Its digital infrastructure supports multi-site online journal access, keeping users updated with the latest research and developments in their field.

The Library’s collection comprises 18,062 books, including 7,705 reference books and 2,045 Hindi books. It is registered under the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative of the INFLIBNET Centre, Ahmedabad, providing access to 155 open-access journals. Through the N-LIST (National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content) platform, users can access more than 6,000 e-journals with 10-year backfiles and over 1,35,000 e-books. The repository also includes 685 dissertations and theses, a digital library with 475 e-resources, and 1,385 bound volumes of back issues of journals, serving as an invaluable resource for research and reference.

In addition to these resources, the Library offers convenient reprography services during working hours for staff, students, and research scholars. Designed to be both resource-rich and user-friendly, the Library continues to provide high-quality academic and research support, ensuring that knowledge and information are readily accessible to the AYJNISHD community.
